“The Place For Everything La Jolla Shores”
Alert: 3/22/20, 10am – The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) has locked the gates at Kellogg Park Parking Lot until further notice.
SDPD has determined this is necessary for public health reasons. This measure is to prevent groups of people from gathering at the beach.
Thank you all for your cooperation during this time. Our goal is to keep everyone safe and healthy. La Jolla Shores Association, Janie Emerson, President
The primary purpose of the Association shall be to provide a community forum for matters affecting the La Jolla Shores Planned District, and to advise the San Diego City Council, Park and Recreation Department, and other governmental agencies as may be appropriate, including the following items of community interest:
(a) To provide liaison for our membership with the La Jolla Town Council, Inc.; the La Jolla Community Planning Association; the University of California San Diego; and other organizations in matters relative to the non-partisan aims of the Association.
(b) To serve the interest of individual property owners and residents through unified action in cooperation with their neighbors in the residential and business areas of La Jolla Shores.
(c) To support the La Jolla Shores Precise Plan, the La Jolla Shores Planned District Ordinance, and the La Jolla Community Plan, which define the character of the district.
(d) To provide recommendations to the city for all parks and public recreation facilities within our boundaries. The city has designated the Association as the sole recreation council for making these recommendations.
(e) To appoint members to the La Jolla Shores Permit Review Committee, which is a joint committee of the Association and the La Jolla Community Planning Association. This committee provides recommendations to the La Jolla Community Planning Association on land use issues in the La Jolla Shores Planned District.
(f) To appoint members to the La Jolla Traffic & Transportation Committee, a joint committee of five community groups.
On behalf of the La Jolla Shores Association (LJSA), we would like to extend our wishes that you, your families and loved ones stay healthy and safe during this time of health emergency. We will put updates and information on our website, Facebook page, and Nextdoor La Jolla Shores as we receive them. Our hope is that these will be helpful as we navigate this time together.
In light of current events, LJSA will cancel our April 8th meeting. Our sincere hope is that things will be so improved we will be able to hold our May meeting. A determination on that will be made mid-April.
In addition, please know that your pressure on UCSD is making a real difference. The LJSA will be seeking legal advice on the best way to deal with UCSD’s proposed Future College Living Learning Neighborhood (FCLLN). We will be reaching out to you and your friends for help and support with this.
In the meantime, please all stay healthy and safe. All of you are important members of the La Jolla Shores Community. We want the best for all of you.
Janie Emerson, President LJSA
